Buying a House!

Hello to you, our many few faithful readers. It's been some time since we posted an update here, but we intend to revive this blog now because we have a BIG new project in the works. We are moving to a new house! After the birth of our second child, our house was starting to feel a bit cramped and we decided to keep our eyes open for something bigger. There was a big, old farmhouse that had been on the market for some time that caught our eye right away. It needed some work a lot of TLC, but we decided to take a walk through it so that we could put it out of our minds. Lo and behold, we both fell in love right away: it is HUGE and has great character. I don't know how we will ever fill its 3800 sq. ft., but I said then same thing when I bought our current place...and look how quickly its filled. We'll need to do some repairs and updates to two of the bedrooms, but in the meantime there are others that are in great shape...and we'll live in those. So, please let us introduce to you our "new" 1840s farmhouse...

Month 8

Dearest Meredith,

You are 8 months old – holy cow! You are changing daily. Literally. There was one weekend that when your Grandma asked me what was new I told her “Meredith can now feed her self small pieces of food, pull her self to standing in her crib, scoot around the floor on her butt, and clap” You had learned all of this in 2 days. Frankly my dear, it is hard to keep up with you.

Month 7

Dearest Meredith,

Happy 7 months! This month has contained some of our greatest days together, as well as perhaps the hardest day. It has been quite the ride.

Month 6

Dear Meredith,

You are now .5! This is the first age related milestone that has made me a bit sad – how can you be a half-year old? You father cruelly pointed out that there are only 35 more 6 month blocks of time before you are 18 and are officially an adult. I hope the time slows down at some point, because my goodness little lady – just yesterday you were brand new!

Month 5

Dear Meredith,

First, I must apologize that this letter is a bit late. So much has happened in the last month and frankly; I have fallen a bit behind. Do let me explain. On September first, I returned to work. We had a fabulous 4.5 months home together, but, as I have explained before, for the financial well being of our family, and because I do enjoy my job, I returned for the beginning of this school year. Being back at work is the reason this letter is a bit late, basically, when I do have any free time would prefer to spend it with you, rather than write about my time with you.

Christmas Update

So, it has been quite some time since our last update. Meredith has kept us plenty busy as of late! Our little angel is now crawling all over the place and is very close to walking. She will stand up and walk along the edge of the couch.

Christmas was a busy season for us. We traveled to Ilion, Morris and Waterloo over a span of a few days. We're back home now, with a trip to Albany planned to visit with Becky's college friends.

Dear Meredith,

Four Months! Wowza! This last month you have just continued to grow, learn, and fill our lives with wonder. I find it astounding how much you have changed in just four months time. Your dad and I were looking at photos recently of when you were first born and we were simply amazed at the transformation that has occurred. Each month with you gets better and better!

Dearest Meredith, Happy three months! You have continued to grow and change so much. As you father would say, “you’re such a little person!” It seems like each day you grow and learn something new. I am in awe of you.

Fathers' Day

Meredith was able to celebrate Fathers’ day in a very special way this year. First, I should say how blessed she is to have so many wonderful men in her life – a fantastic Daddy, adoring grandfathers, and very special great grandfathers! Last Sunday we celebrated by spending the afternoon at her Great Grandpa Fiske’s house with every generation of Fiske Dad! It was so wonderful to get to see her with her great grandparents and to have her meet her Great Aunt Alice! Happy fathers’ day
